Sizing of HipSaver Hip Protectors 

HipSaver soft hip protector undergarments are made in 7 sizes for the best fit and comfort. To establish correct size, you must measure the circumference of the body at the trochanter hip joint level at the top of the thigh bone - the area of the trochanter.

1. HipSaver: XX Small (XXS): 60 – 69 cm / 24 – 27 inches *
2. HipSaver: X Small (XS): 70 – 81 cm / 28 – 31 inches
3. HipSaver: Small (S): 82 – 92 cm / 32 – 35 inches
4. HipSaver: Medium (M): 93 – 102 cm / 36 – 39 inches
5. HipSaver: Large (L): 103 – 114 cm / 40 – 44 inches
6. HipSaver: X Large (XL): 115 – 127 cm / 45 – 50 inches
7. HipSaver: XX Large (XXL): 128 – 146 cm / 51 – 57 inches

* PLEASE NOTE THAT HIPSAVER TAILBONE MODELS ARE NOT AVAILABLE in the XXS size, because the back of the garment in not sufficiently wide to support the coccyx pad.

HipSaver Patient Leaflet To measure for appropriate HipSaver size, you need to measure the hip size - circumference measurement around the body at the level of the upper thighs (trochanter areas). The trochanter area can be recognised easily as it moves, when a person raises a knee up in a standing position.

The hip bone is actually the top of the thigh bone. It is shaped similarly to a small light bulb. This bony trochanter ball can be easily identified and located, when fingertips are placed on the side of the hip. Whilst raising the knee slightly upwards, a movement of the underlying bone can be felt.  

The hip is not to be confused with the pelvic bone that is located much higher and just under the waist and more towards the front of the body. The pelvic bone does not move, when the knee is raised.

To ensure correct HipSaver fit, measure the body circumference over the trochanter hip bones - front to front and around. Compare the measurement with the size chart as presented above.  Note the measurement for a future use. If you have a large tummy, consider ordering the next size up.
