EMG (electromyography) helps the therapist to diagnose and treat a broad variety of conditions and it enables the patient to monitor their progress with an accurate visual and audio biofeedback. Up until recently there has been little equipment available on the market for the therapist and the patient to choose from at an affordable price. Neuromuscular stimulation is increasingly understood more and utilized better by therapists and doctors. There is a growing understanding of relationships and correlations between nerves and muscles, which enables stimulation of the neuromuscular system with precise electrical signals to address specific problems and achieve desired outcomes. In the context, Neurotrac MyoPlus4 delivers precise signals for full control of Pulse Widths, Rates, Ramp up times, Work/Rest cycles and cycles from predefined templates.           

Neurotrac MyoPlus4 is a dual channel EMG device combined with 4 channel of neuromuscular stimulation (STIM). Neurotrac MyoPlus4 is a flexible and versatile EMG STIM that can be configured as a dual or single channel EMG, EMG Triggered Stimulator (ETS) with 2 EMG and 4 Stimulation channels. Alternatively, Neurotrac MyoPlus4 can be used purely as a neuromuscular stimulator on 4 channels with separate mA control.

Neurotrac Myo Plus 4 has 3 built-in preset clinical modes:

• Incontinence / Urology

Each of these modes has a set of programmes with up to 5 time phases. Each phase is EMG or STIM or ETS. Additionally, Neurotrac MyoPlus4 also includes 4 custom clinical modes: EMG Custom, STIM Custom, ETS Custom and P+A Custom (programmable by therapists to individual parameters).

Neurotrac Myo Plus 4 Contra Indications and Precautions

1. STIM: Neuromuscular Stimulation (NMS)

Neuromuscular Stimulation should not be used by:

• Patients fitted with demand style cardiac pacemakers
• During pregnancy (unless medically advised)
• Patients with undiagnosed pain conditions
• Do not place electrodes: over carotid sinus nerves; over larynx or trachea; inside mouth; on anaesthetized or desensitized skin; do not drive a vehicle while the device is stimulating and attached to the body
• Skin irritation from the treatment of NMS or EMG itself does not generally occur. However, rubber electrodes may irritate some skin types, therefore in such case, it is recommended to use hypoallergenic self adhesive electrodes
• The patient should only use the unit for what it was prescribed for
• Do not immerse the unit in water or any other liquid substance
• Do not use stimulation on your facial area unless you are under strict guidance from a qualified clinician

2. EMG

There are no precautions when using EMG unless used for pelvic floor exercising or assessment. In this case EMG should not be used:

• During menstrual period
• If symptoms of bladder infection are present
• With patients who have diminished mental capacity or physical competence who cannot handle the device properly
