This mode enables the user to select any rate between 2 Hz - 200 Hz and a pulse width between 50 µS - 300 µS. This is the most frequently used of the three modes. The most common selection is 80 Hz with a 200 µS pulse width.

2.    Burst Mode

This mode is comparable to the low rate TENS technique except that each low rate pulse is substituted for by a short BURST of 9 pulses (200 µS) at 150 Hz. It is a combination of conventional and low rate TENS. The burst mode is often referred to as acupuncture like TENS.

3.    Modulation Mode

This mode is designed to help prevent nerve accommodation that some patient's experience. It is achieved by continuously cycling the pulse width and rate.

4.    AcuStim Probe

The NeuroTrac TENS and AcuStim unit can be easily changed from a Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulator to a versatile surface AcuPuncture Stimulator by attaching the AcuStim Probe to the connector in the top of the TENS unit.

King's Guide to TENS and Kings Guide to Acupuncture

King's Guide to TENS and King's Guide to Non Invasive Acupuncture are user's guide to Tens Therapy and Non invasive Acupuncture and how to best use Tens machines and non invasive acupuncture electrotherapy devices such as Neurotrac TENS with Acustim to treat pain. Kings Guides are a 'must have' resource for all users of TENS machines and everyone performing non invasive acupuncture.

King's Guide to TENS or Non Invasive Acupuncture

TENS and Acupuncture are accepted methods of drug free relief of pain routinely used by healthcare professionals in the management of acute and chronic pain associated with a variety of illnesses and conditions.

  • TENS - Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation has been designed to stimulate sensory nerve endings in order to decrease perception of pain. The stimulus blocks pain signals passing along the nerves to the central nervous system. TENS stimulus also stimulates production of endorphins - naturally produced chemical substances that change sensory perception.
  • Acupuncture stimulates release of endogenous biochemical compounds - endorphins, dynorphins and enkephalins - that have 'morphine like' efficacy in decreasing the sensation of pain. These compounds are released at different levels of human nervous system and act as natural endogenous painkillers that help us to better tolerate pain and experience a feeling of well-being. Endorphins are released in the brain, whilst dynorphins and enkephalins are released in the spinal cord.

You can learn about TENS and acupuncture from Dr King's Guides, enabling your to maximise the benefits of TENS and electro acupuncture therapy for pain relief.
