About Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Technology for Home Use

VISS IPL Hair Removal System utilises a light technology originally used only by professional beauticians at beauty salons. VISS IPL utilises the same IPL technology, but adapted for home use.

VISS IPL Hair Removal System delivers long lasting hair re-growth prevention, whilst also ensuring silky smoothness of the treated skin. Optimum outcomes are normally achieved after just 4 - 5 treatments.

To remove all hairs successfully and prevent hair re-growth, hair removal treatments have to be repeated once every 2 weeks over the first 3 months. Reduction of hair density is noticeable from treatment to treatment.  By the end of 3 months, your skin should be hair free and smooth.

VISS IPL is effective, yet safe and gentle and you can apply VISS IPL on even the most sensitive skin areas.

VISS IPL Skin GuideWho is suitable for treatment with VISS IPL?

1.    VISS IPL is not suitable for use on black or very dark brown skins as it can cause skin damage.
2.    VISS IPL hair removal treatment is not effective on red hair, grey hair or light blonde hair.
3.    VISS IPL Hair Removal System is most effective, when the hair is dark and the skin has a contrasting lighter tone.
VISS IPLS has 8 adjustable light intensity settings (1 - 8) to deliver gentle treatment across different skin tones (i.e. white, beige, light brown, mid brown, dark brown) and body hair colours (i.e. dark blond to black hair).

How does VISS IPL Hair Removal System work?

VISS Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal System works by heating up the hair root beneath the skin surface. The pigment melanin contained in the hair and hair root absorbs the released light pulses. The darker the colour of the hair, the more heat is absorbed from the light pulse. This process encourages the hair to go into a resting phase with inhibited growth and subsequently shed naturally over a period of couple of weeks.

VISS IPL 'Before & After' Hair RemovalWhen using IPL for hair removal, please remember that only hair in the active growth phase (anagen phase) is responsive to the treatment.

There are 3 phases of hair growth:

1.    Anagen phase - active growth phase characterised by the highest concentration of melanin and active root growth.
2.    Catagen phase - degradation phase characterised by root shrinking prior to shedding of the hair.
3.    Telogen phase - resting phase characterised by shedding of the old hair.

Permanent hair removal with VISS IPL Hair Removal System

  • VISS IPL 'Before & After' Hair RemovalPermanent hair removal treatment is carried over a number of months and involves several hair removal sessions. Optimum hair removal cannot be achieved by a single session, as only hairs in a growing phase respond to the light pulse. During a treatment, hairs on the treated area are in different phases of hair life cycle, hence to treat all hairs successfully and prevent hair roots from becoming active again, the treatments must be repeated once every 2 weeks for the first 3 months.
  • After the first 3 months, your skin should be smooth and hair free.

Maintenance regime with VISS IPL Hair Removal System

  • To maintain hair free skin, you should follow a maintenance regime with a once a month treatment scheduled for the next 3 months.
  • In the months 6 - 9 you should apply hair removal treatment as needed to prevent sporadic slight re-growth of hairs.
  • Thereafter (month 9 and longer), you will only need to use the IPL hair removal system once or twice a year to keep your skin smooth and hair free.

Using VISS IPL Hair Removal System (step by step)

VISS IPL has been designed with simplicity of use in mind. However, please note that before first use, you must read the User Manual, ensuring that you understand and follow instructions on using the VISS IPL correctly, such treatment schedules, skin preparation tips, how to switch on/off and store your device, step by step treatment application, light intensity settings, skin suitability, IPL treatment lamp cartridge changes as well as you understand all precautions, warnings and contraindications.

VISS IPL Lamp Cartridge change.VISS IPL lamp cartridges are durable and last circa 4000 flashes. Thereafter the lamp cartridge has to be replaced. Replacing the lamp cartridge is simple. Simply pull out the used up lamp cartridge and insert a new one in its place.

The same simple routine applies, when you are changing lamp cartridges to apply skin rejuvenation or acne therapy using appropriate IPL lamp cartridges (i.e. skin rejuvenation lamp cartridge or acne therapy lamp cartridge).
Skin test

Before first use, you should perform a skin test on the area to be treated to establish your skin's reaction to the treatment and get accustomed with the IPL treatment.

  • Put on safety glasses and switch the device on.
  • Apply one flash at the lowest recommended intensity for your skin type. If the skin sensation feels comfortable, increase the intensity setting by one level within recommended range for your skin type, move over the area slightly and apply one flash. Repeat till you reach the maximum recommended intensity level for your skin type.
  • Your skin may become a little red and irritated after use of the IPL, but the redness or irritation should vanish within 3 days. If they do not disappear, do not use the device and consult your doctor for advice.
  • For optimum results, you must prepare your skin for the IPL treatment. You should shave the area you intend to treat. Thereafter you should clean your skin and remove all traces of oily substances , such as those present in makeup, deodorants, skin lotions, perfumes and deodorants  from its surface.
  • Make sure you do not set out to use your IPL for at least 48 hours after sunbathing or if you have remains of sunburn on your skin. Remember that if your skin is tanned, you run greater risk of skin reactions. Always perform the Skin Test (described fully in the user manuals) to determine appropriate light intensity for your skin.
  • Ensure that the lamp cartridge and filter glass are free of trapped hair, dust and fibres.
  • For best outcomes and greater safety - refer to user manual for all relevant details prior to use of your IPL.

Applying hair removal treatment with VISS IPL Hair Removal System

  • Put on your safety glasses
  • Switch the VISS IPL on
  • Set intensity level appropriate to your skin type
  • Please applicator firmly on your skin in the area to be treated, ensuring the proper contact with the skin is made
  • Once a beep is heard and the green indicator (ready to flash) is ON, the pulse is charged - press the flash button
  • Move to an adjacent slightly overlapping area and repeat until you cover all area to be treated
  • Avoid treating the same area multiple times during one treatment session as this does not improve the effectiveness, but increases the risk of negative skin reaction
  • Never flash the same area twice without lifting the treatment wand off the skin - lifting the wand off the skin prevents overheating
  • Each flash treats an area of 6 cm square (3cm x 2cm), targeting up to 220 hairs
  • Follow recommended treatment schedule - do not attempt to speed up results by treating more often than recommended
  • Apply VISS IPL Post Treatment Hydration Gel to soothe your treated skin - use only genuine VISS cosmetics - please note that VISS IPL Post Treatment Hydration Gel must be purchased separately, as it is not supplied with the device, but is available as an optional extra
  • Do not use deodorants over the treated area until redness disappeared completely
  • Do not expose your skin to the sun for at least 24 hours, ensuring that the redness is no longer present
  • It is recommended that you apply the VISS IPL Post Treatment Gel prior to sun exposure or prior to artificial UV rays exposure. Otherwise you must use non perfumed sun block with SPF 45+
  • Sun exposure without protection immediately after IPL treatment can increase the risk of skin reactions or irritations
